Let’s shoot for that Friday the 15th. Does Richmond make sense for you? If you have anyone else that would be interested, let’s send out an invite.

@Jay Mitiguy when are you going to be around? Just throwing out dates.

Thanks for the quick responses @Blair Knowles and @Jay Mitiguy. I’d love to set a date for getting together for a beer! Any chance that Wednesday March 13th would be a good day? That Friday could work as well. Hatchet would be great for me since it’s right down the street, but would be open to anything. Is there a small group we could pass along this invitation to? Super informal, just a great VT beer with some “colleagues”?

Is this group still active? I live in Richmond and own property in Burlington but looking to expand outside of Champlain Valley. Would be great to meet some other investors in the area and share notes!

Hi Jay. The City of Burlington requires an annual inspection for all rentals. This inspection includes a wide variety of health and safety checks. There should be a list of requirements on the Code Enforcement site. If you can’t find it, you could contact them and ask to have the list sent to you. As part of that inspection, they do look at fire safety including such items as hard wired smokes/CO and a heating equipment inspection.

A cool new program that that just instituted rewards getting everything done before that come to inspect. If you have 0 infractions, they will grant 5 years of inspection-free bliss.

I’m pretty sure they will only need to inpect the unit you are renting out but I would recommend updating the whole building as you will need to get it inspected once you move out if you continue to hold and rent your unit.

Good luck!
