Thank you Yvonne. I already established the Self directed IRA and am waiting for my former IRA holder to transfer funds to the new account.

I'm absolutely brand new to real estate investing. I'm wanting to invest in flipping and building a portfolio of multi-family rentals. I am also looking into investing in hard money lenders. I am currently opening and transferring funds into a self directed IRA for this purpose. What percentage of my funds should I dedicate to each investment and where do I start? Thanks

@Taylor L. Thanks. Tomorrow I’ll be talking with the administrator of the sd401 for clarification and advice.

I'm starting my venture into real estate investing. I'm about to open a  self directed 401lk. I'm aware of the rules regarding only using this account for all things related to the investment property.  Does this apply to other expenses related to real estate investing such as travel, food expenses as well? For example, I travel out of state to acquire real estate and have expenses such as lodging, car rental, and food. Do I use the funds from my SD 401k via debit/credit card or must I establish a separate account for such expenses?
