@Rob Drum that's a fantastic idea and the path that I'm leaning towards at this time.

@Brice Hagler Bishop, if you don't mine me asking, what are STR'S? Student rentals??

James, thanks for the response.  Will continue to look for options, save and hopefully attend real estate meetings in the future whenever possible so as to buy a property.

Hello all, newbie here looking to get started via house hacking. Stay in the 35205 area but wanted opinions from an investor standpoint on how feasible it is to househack in the surrounding areas. Have found duplexes etc that are less pricey and the numbers work but is it worth it? Doesn't seem possible to buy in the 35205 area which for me is a goal also.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Kyle Spearin thanks so much for responding! Right now the market around the university is great as far as SFH with MFH hard to come by unless you have money to convert a SFH. Outside the immediate area is cheaper and you are right, will reach out to real estate agents on BP for more info on the subject.

New investor here looking to get into real estate via house hacking multi family units in Birmingham, Al. Going to use a FHA loan and wanted some advice for any one investing in the area. Is there a market for house hacking here or should the process be moved outward to the surrounding areas? Just want to find a property in decent shape that's in a B class neighborhood.

Hello everyone!! I'm a newbie to real estate investing and am looking to get started by way of house hacking with an Fha loan. For any experienced investors/ real estate agent investors is it possible to get a multi family 2-4 units in a B/C neighborhood that's a decent property? Or should another route i.e. SFH/looking outside of the city for MFH be taken?? Any responses will be greatly appreciated
