Thanks for the info, guys - really appreciate it!

Hey folks,

I'm looking into putting a duplex on the market.

Concerning the Section 121 exclusion (https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc701) for the sale:

The property was my primary residence (househack) for 3 out of the last 5 years (the exclusion requires 2 years). Both units have been rented the last 2 years.

Are there any tax code "gotchas" that would prevent me from qualifying for the exclusion?

Really appreciate any and all advice - thanks!

Hey everyone,

I was adding my buy-and-hold investment property to my profile. Didn't know it would make a public post! Still learning the ins and outs of the Biggerpockets platform.

I appreciate the quick responses. Seems like a very friendly community!

My wife and I just bought a duplex in Hopkins this past summer, and we're loving the REI ride so far!

I'm not in the market for another property at the moment, but should that change in the future, I'll be sure to reach out! Thanks!
