Hey guys,

I am glad to see Kody answered already, as I'm just now seeing the post. We have a great and growing group in the local REIA, as Kody mentioned, and welcome other local investors to the group.

Happy New Year!

Hi Lisa,

I personally use Condo and Rental Services out of Saginaw to manage my quadplex in Bay City. Mike has done a good job in meeting my needs in a PM, and was referred to me by another investor/acquaintance who uses him to manage 6 units for him. Mike manages around 300 units in the Tri-Cities area and has been in the industry for his entire life.

Josh Burch, of Ayre Rinehart, provides property management for their Real Estate firm and manages a lot of properties in the Tri-Cities area as well. I know many who have been very happy with their services as well.

You'll have to identify what you want in a PM, and go from there. These are the two local options I am aware and somewhat knowledgeable of.

I hope that helps. Feel free to reach out if there is anything else I can help with.

Happy New Year!

Post: Actively investing in Jackson, MI?

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone has had a great holiday!

I am a newer investor, who lives and invests primarily in the tri-cities region of Michigan. I am considering secondary markets as well, primarily based on areas near family that will meet my investing criteria. Jackson is one that meets those criteria.

Do any of you actively invest there? I'm curious as to your personal experience in that market, and the availability of good PM's and or contractors to work with.

My search on the forums only showed posts from 2-5 years ago.

Thanks in advance!

Isaac

Shane,

We meet on the last Thursday of the month at 5 PM. Most of the people in the meeting have a lot of experience and are happy to help.

Good morning,

Manny has gotten everything setup for our meeting next week, via Zoom. I've shared the details with each of you via PM here on BP.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to connecting next week.

How about Thursday next week, 7/30, at 5 PM? We can do Zoom or whatever program is preferred. I have access to WebEx if needed. I agree on the value of an introductory call, Derek. It would be a good place to start, so we can each have a better understanding of each other contextually.

@Manuel Prado

Thank you for the welcome and response. Yes, I agree - it would be a great idea to go ahead and start that meeting virtually until all participants are comfortable doing so in person. Derek and I were able to meet this week, and I truly enjoyed comparing notes on properties we both have looked at, as well as discovering other mutual interest and connections.

I would like to see a meeting where we can invite vendors who are are already supporting our local RE group (lenders, insurance etc.). I believe this could be a great opportunity for them to share how they can help and what options may be available, that we might not be aware of. In turn, they could also earn our business by doing so, if they are the best option within their space. For instance, in the few conversations I have had with others locally, there is one name that keeps coming up for lending in this space. Have you seen anything similar done elsewhere? If so, what are your thoughts on it and any other ways to add value to that format?

Thanks again for the response. I look forward to meeting, learning from, and supporting each of you in our RE pursuits in our local area.

@Derek Larson

Congrats on the SFH and smooth rehab. That has to feel good. Adams should make for an easy sale or rental. What are your plans for the property?

It sounds like a Midland meetup would be worthwhile. Maybe we can get something together for August.

I accepted the colleague request and will send you a PM.

@Dustin Griesing

Thanks for the info there. I want to stick to my criteria, so I will likely have to do the same. The MFH listings I have found didn't meet the criteria.

BTW, I believe you and I were in the same class at Great Lakes Safety Training Center a couple years back. How is your family?

Keep me posted and maybe we can compare notes as we go. Do you have any others properties under your management?

Isaac
