Any new information on the coffee farms?  Has anyone seen any financial return?

EDIT: Edit to add that on the GRE podcast there is a new episode about the coffee farms, posted Jan 09.  Haven’t listened to it yet but will check it out.  I’m still curious if anyone on BP has seen any return on this investment.

Thanks for the great info.  I’m curious what fees or percentage TCS charged you for the services.  Acquisition fee, tenant placement, fees associated with rehab, etc.

You could also set up your C-corp to not pay dividends, which would eliminate the double taxation. Instead of paying dividends you can compensate yourself with other pre-tax benefits... Salary, medical, education, auto, etc.

I have been reading the book "Inc. & Grow Rich" which has some pretty good info. I am still learning as well though.

At the Orange Circle in CA a church was turned into an El Torito (a restaurant). It does quite well. It has a neat atmosphere... stain glass windows, etc.

Pai Gow is one of the best games in Vegas in my opinion. You sit down on an actual chair, not a stool, so you are comfortable. Each hand takes about 5 minutes, so it is not a fast game, and you only lose 25% of the time.

It really is a drinking mans game... You could basically sit and play for as long as you want, and depending how you bet you can leave with the same amount or slightly more than you started with. Obviously if you bet aggressively then you can win or lose more.

Also the dealers are always very helpful. They have a set of house rules that they play by, and will happily help you set up your hand, or you can ask the person sitting next to you. You can show your cards to people... it is a very casual game. Once you get the hang of it, it is really a casual game :)

Make sure and do your due diligence so that you don't end up with a lien to some little plot of land that nobody wants :)

Safe investing.

Hi Guys,

I am a fairly recent lurker (just discovered this site about two weeks ago), and an even newer member.

I think this site is really really great. The knowledge and experience that you guys are sharing is really helpful to newbies and others like me who are interested in learning and are seeking the tools for it. As mentioned above, my initial reason for not joining was because I don't immediately have anything to offer other than questions, and I read enough forums to know that answering the same 500 questions over and over gets old real fast. I utilized the search feature, and I think that is why I signed up... so that I could see my search responses.

Also as mentioned, the initial home page forum took me a long time to get familiar with... I have been reading the site for hours over the past couple weeks, and it really is not intuitive the way it is set up. Once a new member figures it out though, it is fine. I really like the 3 forum topic posts that show up at the bottom of a thread, as they are usually relevant and always have me clicking for more.

The ideas of a chat session once a week are good ones, but it becomes a commitment that someone will have to do once a week, which is not always fun. Also one of the benefits of a forum is that even old topics are still relevant and useful. I am reading topics that are a year old or longer, and they’re still answering my questions. By using a chat room feature, a lot of that knowledge would not be available to newer users, unless you archived and posted the chat logs. Also the idea of doing private questions to pro’s would possibly create more traffic for the pro’s, but I think it would lessen the quality of the site overall, since then people would be asking the same questions repeatedly since it’s not available to search for.

While sometimes it is daunting to ask questions, this really is an industry of learning… so people need to face those fears, just like they do with making their first deals :) Of course try the search feature first.

I am really glad that I stumbled across this site, and am finding it to be a very valuable resource. Thanks for all the hard work.
