The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done. - George Carlin

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. - Hunter S. Thompson

Just a bit of humor to break the spell of networking and work related activities. You may be surprised what you can learn about a persons personality this way.

And now, on to the non-sense. What quotes come to mind. Famous or otherwise, let em fly... I will start with one of my personal favorites:

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits. - Albert Einstein

workerdrone you are one of the only ones who got it right. I was thinking more on the vacation side than the real estate side for everyone. Thought I made that clear, hell I wouldn't really care if folks decided they didn't want to see any real estate at all. More than anything I thought it a great way to meet with some people face to face instead of through the glow of a computer monitor.

Now to answer some of these posts...
Vikram - Many different types of investment are available, the days of buying for next to nothing are well over but you can still find some great deals. House with a few acres can be found for 50 or 60k if you do some digging. The thing you have to realize is that when you put things in context i.e. cheap taxes, cheap labor, much better environment & weather than anything comparable in the states. It works out nicely in your favor.

Mr. Investor - Not on your life... But, I may be able to get you $300 RT here. :)

Rich - I agree the days of buying land here for shiny beads and mirrors are long gone :-) and I respect what you are saying. I too love Mexico. But for me, I like a coast line that is far less prone to Hurricanes ;-)

P NW - You got it. A cheap vaca for anyone who may want it. I was in the tourism sector for years and still keep a toe in. I can get breaks on everything for you from hotels to some of the best fishing you have ever seen and anything in between, it's about having fun first and foremost.

Mike Oh - your getting it, again if you just want a lounge and hang out with Capuchin monkeys sipping pina coladas that's all good. you are right, there is MUCH MORE to life than real estate. MUCH MUCH MORE.

Interesting responses so far, about what I expected I guess....keep em coming...

Think of it more as a way to meet with colleagues & get away from the grind, etc...

Hello,
My name is Isham Collier. I am a real estate consultant in Costa Rica. I have been toying with the idea of putting together a real estate vacation to Costa Rica. I am posting to see what the response would be or if any interest exists at all in this endeavor. I would put together an itinerary, visiting different areas of the country. Real Estate would be on the menu, but as little or as much as the participants want to see. Hotels would be at a discount as well as tours. Deep sea fishing, canopy tours, Arenal Volcano, etc.. I was thinking in the colder months ahead (Maybe Feb.). So that's it, is there an interest in this sort of thing? Any questions?
