@Daniel Gonzalez thank you very much. I'm just curious if it matters that she currently does not have a lease or never had one. Essentially she was month to month with the prior owner on a verbal basis

Hello I recently bought a 2 family house in prospect park NJ with a tenant already in it. The tenant does not have a lease but was paying month to month with the prior owner. I have drawn up a lease effectively raising the tenant's rent beginning April 1st 2020. The tenant informed me that i need to give 30 days notice prior to raising rent in the state of new jersey. Given that the tenant does not have a lease do I have to provide such notice? Would appreciate any insight into the matter
