I'm having some trouble with the search function on the new site. It seems its not searching the actual forums very much. I typed in "seo" which gave me plenty of bigger pockets blog posts but 0 for forum posts.

You could always start your own REIA group. :)

Risk vs Reward - There's no surefire way of getting $20k from $5k. If there was then everyone would be doing it. You could bet on black twice and hope you get $20k.

What is your goal? Do you want to invest for more cash, passive income, your own business? A lot of the advice here is if you're in it for the long term then investing in your education is the best investment. Other than that you could invest in marketing but then you'd have to invest more in your education to learn how to wholesale as well.

Welcome to Bigger pockets! Rafael has said everything I recommend. Another thing I would add are the blogs, which you can add to a RSS feed and learn lots everyday.

Out of curiosity, are there special qualities this particular wholesaler has that the others lack?

Welcome to the site Richard!

I'm a newbie myself and also starting my journey in real estate. I've enjoyed the blog, podcast, and forums greatly. Try and see if there's a BP meet up nearby where you live to network with other investors. BP is such a great place to meet and network with others. Very little to none sales and pitchiness.
