I wouldn't even consider that area East Atlanta anymore since it is so far south. I was up further north where it says East Atlanta. The further south you go down Moreland, the worse the neighborhoods get.

I love the East Atlanta area and used to live there right after college in 2013-2014 in a newly renovated home. Back then houses were still early in the getting flipped process. I haven't spent much time in the area since so it might have changed, but it is still not what I would consider a "low crime" neighborhood. Our home was burgled and many on our street had similar experiences. We were in 30316 South of Glenwood and east of Flat Shoals.

Thanks for the tip @Rick Baggenstoss I'll start marking houses on Redfin as well. Unfortunately for the time being, fast is not an option. It's going to be a few more months before I can even look at a house. I guess I can use it to find all the houses I don't want to buy?

Thanks for the welcome @Dmitriy Fomichenko & @Brandon Turner ! I hope to learn a lot in the next few months and this seems like a great site and resource to begin with. Keep in touch.

Hi All!

Just joined the BP community today and wanted to say hello. I was born and raised in Atlanta and graduated from Georgia Tech last spring. I am temporarily living out in Arizona until the end of the year, but as soon as I get back I am looking to purchase my first residence. I have rented before, but never purchased a house.

My goal is to get a second, investment property as soon as possible, once I have my residency nailed down. I know the Atlanta area very well and have spent many hours scouring Zillow for possible investments, but I am still a long way from closing on anything. I am currently reading The Book On Flipping Houses by J Scott and trying to learn as much as I can before I get back and start taking action, which is what brought me here to you guys.

I would love to talk to fellow Atlanta investors, especially when I return to town. I hope I am not breaking the rules by offering to buy lunch or coffee for a friendly meet up. Please let me know if I am out of line. Cheers.
