Hello gentleman,

I am in great need of advice and guidance. I am at the beginning stages of setting up my small business entity. At the moment, I am ready to register with Dun and Bradstreet, but as an aspiring real estate investor, I have read that using SIC code 6531, for real estate investor, will increase the odds of me getting flagged by banks as a high risk business, when applying for a business loan. I have read that as an investor, I should instead use an SIC code for business management, consultant, advertiser...... and then carry on doing business as an investor. I would love to receive any advice from you guys.

Hello,

I have posted a similar question in the Business forum, but it may be more appropriate in this forum. I have read from multiple sources to avoid using the real estate SIC code 6531, when registering for a Dun and Bradstreet number, because it is a high risk code for real estate investing. I would like to know if anyone has had success with using this or if anyone has structured their real estate investing company/corporation under a different SIC code in order to avoid being flagged for business financing?

Hello all,

I am new to the Bigger Pockets community. I have done a forum and Google search for the following answer, but I haven't had any luck. I have being doing research on applying for my Dun and Bradstreet number. I have been able to find advice from multiple sources that warn about using the high risk real estate SIC Code: 6531, but not much advice is given on how to structure my real estate investing under a different SIC Code. My concern is that if I use a different SIC Code, wouldn't I still have to present my real estate business plan to the banks, in order to acquire funding to buy property? What are your experiences with structuring your corporations, and business plans for real estate funding? The more recent experiences, the better. Thanks in advance.
