The main reason I came to Michigan was because I have relatives that are based here and I can stay with them until I am set up.

I had no idea how bad the Michigan market was before I arrived.

Now I am thinking that it is not the best market to be starting with no cash to invest.

I have all the time in the world to search for deals and I am ideally looking for a partner with the money, who I can do the searching for.

If anyone is looking to invest in Michigan. Let me know what your specifications are and I will find what you are looking for!

Myles

Thanks Scott!

Why Michigan?
My Uncle lives here. So I am living rent free. Furthermore I cannot get a job as I am here on a tourist visa.

I am literally spending 100% of my time trying to find motivated/desperate sellers. Not doing too badly so far!

Good to meet you!

I have not attended the Rich Dad program personally but my realtor has. She LOVED IT!

I think the key is, get to know the program you are interested in. In your case, I suggest reading the books, studying the website. If you connect/identify with Robert Kyosaki's style and principles then go for it!

I am a member of Robert Allen's "Enlightened Wealth institute" I joined in June this year and have NEVER looked back. Of course I had to pay for some of the courses, but they have more than paid for themselves in the knowledge they impart and the subsequent deals I have as a result of his teaching methods

Post: What kind of an offer on REO

I have been looking at REO's in Lansing, Michigan.

I am avoiding Detroit, just because there are so many other investors there. I believe in the "Find out what everyone else is doing and then do the opposite" mentality.

I am finding the banks/brokers very un-flexible. The banks are counter offering just a few thousand off their listing price. I then counter-counter offer and it comes back a little bit more. In one situation I counter-counter-COUNTER offered and the bank came back with a price that was HIGHER that their original counter offer????

I also get the feeling that the brokers are not submitting my offers. Is this legal? I was under the impression that HAD to submit EVERY offer.

Does anyone know how I can bypass the brokers and deal directly with the banks?

Thanks

Myles

"Multiple Streams of Income" by Robert Allen (Author of "Nothing Down")

Opened my eyes to many different ways of creative passive income.

I recommend "Secrets of Millionaire Mind" by T. Harv Eker.

It covers the usual positive thinking, accessing your subconscious etc.. It also contains a section on bad money conditioning that you may have picked up from your childhood/parents.

For example..One story is about a guy who has real trouble keeping his money. He earns a lot, but can never seem to keep any of it.

After reading the book, he remembered when he was very young (3 or 4), his mother put him in charge of the $20 his brothers and sisters were allowed to spend at the fun fair.

He subsequently lost the money and suffered the wrath from his siblings.

As a result he has always felt uncomfortable handling money and this pattern continued to repeat itself throughout his adult life.

Thanks to the book, he has identified this problem and rectifies it, with very prosperous results.

If anyone wants any other book recommendations let me know!

Hi everyone,

I am a 29 year old British male from the UK. Currently in Brighton, Michigan with the sole purpose of investing in real estate.

It all started after reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" about a year ago.
I quit my job and moved out here in June to focus on investing full-time.

So far it is going quite well.

I currently have two properties under contract and am busy looking for partners.

VERY happy I found this forum.

Hi there.

I am an non-us citizen investing in real estate (mainly foreclosures) in Michigan.

As I have no credit score/history I am currently reliant on hard money lenders.

Does anyone know how I can begin to build my credit as an non-resident investor?

Any other non-us citizen related advise will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Myles
