Post: House-Hacking With Partner Investor - Minneapolis, MN

Hello everyone,

I am looking to purchase my first property (either single family or duplex) with a coworker.  The problem is I would live in a unit but he would not be able to.  Does anyone know what a fair cash flow would look like for this situation?  Would I treat it like I was paying rent?  I would have roommates (and tenants if it was a duplex) who would pay a nominal rent for that area.

Any input is appreciated, thank you!

Thank you @Ayodeji Kuponiyi and @Account Closed! I've been listening to the podcasts every night.  It is very very addicting already and I haven't even boughten anything.  I am doing my research on "house hacking" and I appreciate the advice!

Hello everyone! I am 23 years old and currently a manufacturing engineer living in the Minneapolis area looking to get started in real estate investing.  I graduated from UW-Stout in the spring of 2015 and some of my passions/hobbies include fitness, riding motorcycle, and most recently started cycling.

My current short term goals are to learn which direction I want to take, whether it be buy-and-hold or learning to flip house, and how to get started.  My drive to learn about real estate investing was sparked by reading "Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki.  I currently feel like I am working just to pay bills and I am determined to be financially independent.

Thank you!

Gus
