Because I do not know much about HAFA. But I looked it up and do not think I qualify, It says that my payments for the home have to exceed 31% of my gross income and I am at 27%

I owe about 75k for the second.

At 185 I got 5 showings on my home in 4 months. When we dropped down to 179 we had 5 showings in a month and 1 offer. I thought I might be able to sell it for 170 - 175k.

My home is near Cleveland Ohio but I am currently living in Dallas Texas. They processed me for a loan Modification even though I was denied which I am assuming is Hafa. I called my first mortgage company (owe 148k) and they said I do not have to process a short sale though them but only have to do it on my second. The second really has been no help; I tried to work with them to find the price I should put my home on the market for. I started at 195k and no action I dropped after 2 months to 185k and after 4 months I dropped to 179k and got an offer for 160k. They would not counter the offer for 45 days and then finally countered with 185 and they pulled out.

Should I go back to the first and see if they will accept a short sale? Any suggestions would help

I recently lost my job and in order to support my family I had to move to another state. I have my home up for sale as a short sale but not getting any hits on the home for what the bank wants. I was wondering if I could buy the home from the bank for the short sale price and put it up for rent? I could cut the mortgage almost in half if I do that which would open the option for me to rent it. That would allow me to move and buy another home in state that I am currently employeed in.
