So after browsing BP today I took some time to look for any locals to connect with. After some time I decided maybe it would be easier to post in the New York section. Looking for anyone who works with real estate outside the city and not four hours upstate. Primarily Putnam county, peekskill, Lake peekskill, Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Yorktown.

I love the California sunshine but real estate prices out here are insane. I found this group on You Tube and right now I'm kind of OD'ing on real estate videos:) I haven't bought anything yet. Right now I'm focused on learning but ultimately I would like to buy and hold multi unit residences and single family homes outside of CA.

Hey everyone - we thought that we'd go ahead and let you all know that we put together a  to see which markets offered the best chance for regular Joe investors to get great returns over the last year or so:

We look at 0-4 unit residential properties (if you can buy a home in a given market for yourself, you can generally also purchase these types of properties) and measure them for two things:

Gross Rents as a percentage of property values in early 2014

Appreciation as a percentage of property values in early 2014

Combining the two, you can see where investor dollars likely went the farthest (before expenses). We hope that this will be useful to you as a starting point in market research!

  Hello to any and all that read this. My name is Daniel Jones I live in Groton CT I'm a full time student at the University of Connecticut studying finance. I joined BP as an effort to connect with like minded individuals who are looking to grow personaly and financially. So far this website has been a great tool for learning and developing successful habits. Currently my real estate experience consist of being a landlord ( I love that term btw) for over 4 year. My rental property is in GA and now I am committed to making my first big purchase in CT. My overall goal is to meet people who want to help grow and motivate each other to become as successful as possible. I'm a very laid back guy who gets along with anyone so if you want to drop some knowledge, spark a convo, or make a new friend drop me a line and I'll do the same.
