Thanks Jamiel! I’m also currently setting up volunteer days to help clean up after I get a working bathroom for use and kitchen for refreshments.

This is really cool! Detroit has been embracing the arts and it helps build a good name for the city. Thank you for doing this!

What made you interested in investing in this type of deal?

I’ve always had my heart set to help revive the distraught outside communities of Detroit. People tend to forget just how big the city is. My focus was searching for a place that was near the city but still within reach of its surrounding counties.

How did you find this deal and how did you negotiate it?

Found this property on Wayne county auction website.

How did you finance this deal?

Credit card.

How did you add value to the deal?

I am working on rehabilitation of the bathrooms, kitchen, wooden floors, and new roof in the spring.

What was the outcome?

The property is still a work in progress.

Lessons learned? Challenges?

Just how much cleaning is neeeded and how much restoration is needed.

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

I worked with Leah Clisby who went around with me for about a year and a half on and off and showed me all the areas that were up and coming in Detroit.

I just attended a seminar in Detroit Michigan and it just didn’t really sit well with me especially since I’ve learned so much on YouTube from Bigger Pockets, minority mindset and 100 percent financed. Although I learned some info, I lost a lot of time I could have spent watching and searching and learning for another YouTube video.

I’m with Jose and what he stated here:

New and or aspiring investors Beware:

I went to a free seminar, about 2-3 hours long. They used a lot of motivational and testimonials tactics and promises of tools they will provide to get you going in the RE Investment business if you go to their 3 day workshop for a $2000 fee.
This is how I've describe the workshop; about 50% motivational, 40% information and 10% training add the fact that they dont allow you to record the workshop and pretty much all the tools they offered people in the free seminar, are available as part of a different package they call boot camp for 20K+ 30k+ and 40-50k. Truth is me and the people I met there and exchanged numbers with, all came out with more questions than answers and with little to zero confidence that we were ready to begin flipping houses. BBB has graded this ppl and its main entity with a D-.
I would recommend to avoid this company. Find the closest REIA and attend their meetings and meet other investors there. Read RE Investment books recommended in this Website and listen to BP podcast. I have learn more this way for a lot cheaper.
