Welcome to Bigger Pockets Karl! It's going to be difficult to find a cash flowing rental in Bend right now, so buying in Bend is really a bet on appreciation. Like Brian mentioned, the restrictions on growth in Bend make it a pretty good bet, but nothings guaranteed.

Three years ago I made my introduction post here on BP with the goal to move to Bend OR to start a career in real estate development and to begin managing my own rental properties. One year ago I made the move and today I own/manage two single family rentals.

Our monthly meetup will be on November 1st at our usual location in Level 2 at the Old Mill. We have a great thing going with consistent meetups every month. Iv personally met business partners and made friends at this meetup, dont miss out!

Our October meet up will be at the usual time and place, Tower Two at 5:30 on the first Thursday of the month! This event has been gaining steam month after month so I encourage old and new participants alike to come check it out. I have learned tons and made lots of great relationships at this meetup, so im always looking forward to the next!

Hi everybody,

Unfortunately it sounds like @Karen Margrave is moving away. I have been happy to do the sign-in sheets and mailing list for our Central Oregon Bigger Pockets Meetup, but Im reluctant to take over Karens leadership roll as well. I think that part of what has made our group so great is that it has been a collaboration between many members working together to organize. If anyone is interested in helping to keep this going, there is a lot of opportunity to step up now!

Some of the tasks that no one really has claimed right now are are booking the venue each month and making the bigger pockets event each month. There has been a lot of talk about brining in monthly speakers which would be very cool if anyone wants to organize that. 

The next event on Thursday September 6th is only a few weeks away. Im afraid that if I take up all the tasks on my own this will become "my" event instead of "our" event and I don't want that to happen. So whoever wants to help out, please speak up! :)

Hey everybody! 

We have a great thing going with the regular meetups, it would be a shame to lose all of our momentum. Can we agree on a regular time date to get this going again? I liked 5pm on the first Thursday of the month at Level 2, but the date doesn't really matter to me as long as we can come up with something consistent. Any thoughts?

A couple people have suggested taking an HELOC and investing that money. Where can we invest money for a safe return above 5%? I would love to know!
