Sounds like you really did your homework on this one and had multiple options!  I'd be curious to hear what happened with your situation...

Newbie question here- do I pay income tax on investment income?

I haven’t heard it addressed at all yet in the podcasts and other materials I have come across.

Thank you!

There’s a vacant home near me who’s owner passed away in Nov 2019. Doesn’t seem like any relatives live nearby. I looked on the county records and the home is still in the deceased gentleman’s name.

Seems to me like it could be a distressed property and the family may be open to someone taking it off their hands... but how do I get in contact with the right person??

@Lien Vuong yes, you’re right. For all I know it could just be a rumor!

@Ujwal Velagapudi good point about the neighbors. You’re right that they would probably find out in the first few weeks! I definitely would prefer to be up front about it.

There’s a home in our neighborhood sitting empty. Rumor has it that a gentleman passed away in the home sometime this past year and didn’t seem to have family local. I’m thinking it could be a “distressed property” to target.

What should I know about any challenges for this situation? Would I need to disclose history to future buyers or renters?
