Why would a contractor ever agree to make a payment contingent on an unknown and unverified third party's opinion? Especially when even getting the third party's opinion is contingent on a fourth and fifth party's ability to do their job (the two agents involved)

If you find a contractor willing to accept these terms, I assure you that you don't want to hire that contractor because that contractor is a crazy person.

@Elizabeth Pare - I run a design build firm and I've been through the process of hiring in house crews, and the outcome of that.

I'd be happy to speak with you about the growth process. Please feel free to reach out to me.

Use one that will give you the kind of points benefits you want. Personally, I travel internationally a lot and so I like the Chase Bank Visa point system, as I use a sapphire card personally and can then xfer points out to various airlines and hotel groups.

The Points Guy is kind of like Biggerpockets, but for CC reward points. Start there and do your homeowner before buying into a reward system.

For me, CC reward points have been... well, life changing. We've flown all around the world, usually up front, for less cash out of hand than it would cost us to get to the beach.

I wouldn't pay the entire thing, but 50% up front isn't unheard of.

Just ask to see the receipts from the city where the fees were paid. Reimburse for hard costs and let him know you won't use him for the job moving forward.
