@Kalene Smith, thank you.  That matches the advice I've been reading.  It's nice to hear from somebody who's local and a bit earlier in the journey than some of the people whose books or blog posts I've read.

I'm curious: how did you find your two rentals that you've purchased?  I'm learning and just starting to look around for opportunities.

@Ben Relph, I'm looking at single family homes (or possibly duplexes), but I haven't settled on an area of town.  I'm most familiar with the east and south sides, but willing to go pretty much anywhere.  I'm also looking at Augusta and maybe El Dorado.  This is all subject to change as I learn more, though.

I signed up for the Wichita area REIA meeting on Saturday. That sounds like it will be interesting.
