Thank you all. Everyone has provided such good feedback and tips. I will spend the weekend doing some research on the areas you suggested. I really appreciate this wonderful community and the insights I'm learning. I definitely need to spend more time on biggerpockets :) Cheers!

Thank you all for your feedback. Rookie mistake - I should have added more details :)

Family with small children and although we would like to be close to the beaches, it's not a "must". Inland will be just as fine. We would most likely spent the winter months there while the kids are still young and we work remotely.

In regards to price range, we would like to stay under $100K.

My family lives in the  Washington DC area and we've been thinking about investing in a vacation home in Florida that we could use, but also use it for a short-term rental during the times we won't be there. What areas of Florida would you suggest we look at for properties? I'd love any advice you could provide. A newbie at rentals.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

@Shawn Ackerman I'm currently reading the guide, thanks for that reference. There are great resources on that page.

Hi community! My name is Galya and I'm new to the exciting world of real estate investing. I look forward to learning from this community and meeting folks in the DMV area.

My husband and I own our own business in the tech space (web design and development) and are ready to start investing in real estate as well.

I'm interested to learn how to buy good rental properties as well as flip homes. I'm ready to immerse myself in this vertical and learn from this great community. I'm eager to get hands-on experience, as I think this is probably the best way to learn and propel quickly. Our goal is to acquire two properties in 2017.

P.S. I have started to actively listen to the podcast and I'm learning a ton already.

Cheers!
