As an update to this. My opportunity to move to CO did not end up working out so it’s back to looking in the Houston area for a house hack opportunity!

Thanks everyone for the information! I hope to move to CO one day.

Hello BP!

So after a long time my family and I are finally in a position to buy our first investment property. I was looking at a duplex or triplex here in the Houston area to get things going with a house hack, but I recent applied for a job in Colorado Springs that I am likely to get.

So I am trying to really understand the area. Since I’m a TX native I had that advantage, but this promotion would put me out of my element.

I am leaning towards the idea of STR but from what I am understanding there is a permit process for unoccupied vs. occupied. As well as for unoccupied STR am I understanding right that I could only have potentially 2 condos under one property?

We had planned to either get into a multi family or buy a condo live in it for a year then hop to another and STR that one.

Looking for any thoughts or opinions or information this wonderful group can provide or direction to any resources I can go over.

Thanks!

This post is pretty old but I am in Hawaii and looking to really network with people and try to use all the education on Investing I have been acquiring.

Would anyone care to share any success they are having here in Hawaii?

Anyone planning on going to the meet up next month? I will be attending!

- Gabriel

Hey BP forum. I am looking to find someone that I can work with for free I just want to learn some investing stuff! I have an itch to become an investor but i am just currently still in college. I am a senior and will be graduating at the end of this year. My family and I will be here til about 2020 and i feel like I am just putting things off with excuses.

So I am looking to work with someone be it doing the grunt working or helping to find deals. I just want to learn. I am interested in wholesaling at the moment seeing as i dont have a job yet(being a student) and think that would be the best path for me to start right now. I am pretty high energy and like i said open and willing to learn!

If anyone is interested please feel free to reach out to me. I will also be going to the next local meet up once i know when that is as well!

Thank you BP community for your time and best of luck to everyone in their journey!

@James Wise Thanks for that information! Definitely going to make use of those things.

For anyone else still reading this post, anyone from the Houston area currently househacking or have experience househacking in the area? I grew up in Angleton which is about 45 minutes south of Houston so markets i am looking at are southern areas around Houston to be close to family(being away for 6 years for military we are desperate to be close to family again)

@Lane Kawaoka How can i calculate the Rent to Value? I have been researching it seems that it the the Value of the home divided by 12 months rent? Just looking to clarify so I can browse homes better.
