Hello Everyone--

I was browsing online for different markets to purchase my first condo/apt/townhome. I see some REALLY good prices in the Houston, Texas area but I can see the properties need some work. I was wondering how hard is it to find tenants out there. Are there any good property management places?

@Cuong Le...Thank you so much! I have not written down my "why" yet but I definitely know why! I have wanted to get into the realty business for some time now. I just haven't had the guidance or the financial means to be a realty investor. Before coming to this place, the most information I got was from HGTV. Also, I randomly came across a guy one summer who was having work done on his apartment property and I had the most interesting/ inspiring conversation with him. In a perfect world, I would use these investments to retire earlier and have something to pass on to my children (I hope they continue to rent the properties but if they sell them, then I suppose that would be their choice). I also, thoroughly, enjoy the idea of investing something and watching the return on it. I'm the one that used to buy up as much property as possible when playing Monopoly (even as a child). To start off with, I am looking for duplexes or even just a unit for now. Eventually, I would like to expand and buy multi-family properties and maybe a few single family homes as well. Thanks for the suggestions and I will be checking those out soon!

@Jerry W. Thank you so much for your suggestions! I started reading the beginners guide and I love how comprehensive this material is! =] I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my posts and will continue to familiarize myself with the "learn" section above. How do I set key work alerts?

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this site/forum and fully enjoying it so far! I have already started reading the beginners guide and I am SO excited to get started! My goal is to have a "buy and hold property with property management" by this time next year. If I could get it a little sooner, then that might be okay too! Anyway, I would also like to buy a new home for residency in the next three years. I have a modest income with expenses to match =] I have already starting saving money for my place of residency but would like to start saving for my investment property. Do these goals seem realistic or should I downgrade a little?
