I am in Parlin also. I am a newbie as well. I'm looking to do a flip or two to get started but would ultimately like to do brrrr's. I have been doing a lot of reading but have yet to dive in. I have no shortage of construction experience both residential and commercial. It is experience in real estate I lack. Anyway,I'm in neighborhood and am eager to meet like minded individuals.

Andrew Johnson, I never thought of it like that but I think you are right. As for me, I'm just trying to find as many sources of "reliable" information as I can. I was skeptical about the "pros" and that's why I posted the question. Thanks for input.

It's funny, sometimes I forget the power of searching a forum for info and automatically post a question. I did search the topic and found plenty of info. Thank you

Hi BP community, Just curious if anyone has attended Than Merrill's Real Estate class and what they thought of it. It is advertised as a free 2hr class about flipping houses in the New Jersey area. Thanks for any input. Frank Ruopoli

Natalie Vane Thank you for the info. I believe there was a meeting on may 18 but I was out of town. I will hopefully be at the next one. I will definitely PM you for info on a useful agent. I am eager to get started and at the same time very apprehensive. Im just trying to go into this as educated as possible being that my experience is zero. Thanks again

James Masotti thank you for the info. I will definitely look into SJREIA. Another question. REO's are bank owned. Is the price negotiable, do you place a bid or is the money owed what it's going to sell for and that's it. I believe I read that REO's are foreclosures that never sold. Would that make them very negotiable?

Mindy Jensen what makes NJ such a different "beast"? Is that in general or just concerning REO's?
My post was a typo. It was supposed to say if he didn't build what was on the approved drawings he is responsible. If he did build what was approved and followed the drawings than he would really not be at fault.
