Quote from @Chris Romany:

@Frank Johnson and @Maria Diaz The best way to learn about real estate is networking with your peers. You should think about joining Central Florida Real Estate Investors (CFRI); membership is practically free, and they meet several times a month. That's how I got started almost 10 years ago and built a solid portfolio as a (now full-time) real estate investor.

Happy Investing!

 Will definitely connect, thanks!

Quote from @Shawn McCormick:

Hi @Frank Johnson Welcome to BP, this will be a great source for information and fostering the ideas that you are interested in.

There is a pretty active investor community locally with meet ups geared around different niches. I am on the board of CFRI, the local chapter of the national REIA. We have about 20 meetings per month that you can attend and network with other investors and trades with all levels of experience that are eager to learn and share knowledge. It's non profit and not geared toward selling you anything so great place to start.

If you'd like to have a call to see if I can add any value , just PM me.

Best of luck!

Thank you Shawn! Will reach out you.

Hello Bigger Pockets Community. I am a working professional in the cloud computing space of big tech and a current graduate student at the University of Central Florida. I currently reside in Orlando and will be here for at least another year. My background is in industrial engineering and I am currently shifting toward the data engineering & analytics space of the business. Besides these commitments, I am dedicating some time to learning the real estate market with the goal of becoming a rental property investor within the next year as I seek to diversify a portion of my portfolio into real estate.

I love the idea of becoming financially independent via rental property investing and using your career to jumpstart this pathway. Everything I've seen thus far has pointed toward a relatively rough local market to find cash flowing properties in with current housing prices, interest rates, and the bevy of other intricacies which are unique to the Florida market (particularly Orlando); however, I'm sure deals still exist and at the very least want to begin getting my feet wet so to speak in ways that can prepare me to take advantage when the opportunity arises.

Right now I am seeking to connect with likeminded working professionals, experienced investors, and real estate subject matter experts to learn, grow, and foster meaningful connections. I look forward to contributing within this community as well. Feel free to reach out to me here or via LinkedIn (not sure if providing a link is allowed here but I can provide). Thank you!

Best Regards,

Frank Johnson
