Thanks everybody. I really appreciate all your suggestions and information.

I've already subscribed to the local REI group and I'm looking forward to going there in the next meeting.

I'm starting reading the beginner's guide.

@Lisa Moon wow I didn't imagine there were so many different actors involved. It's kind of overwhelming thinking about how many there are, although I think that everything can be learned step by step.

My hometown in Italy is less than one hour far from Rome, by car. It's called Alatri.

I've actually lived 2 years in Rome and I practically escaped. It's beautiful, nothing to say about that, but too busy for me. And from what I've seen here, houses are much more expensive in Rome while rent rates are actually slightly lower.

I'll go do my homework (study for now) but I'm sure I'll come back soon to ask for your valuable suggestions on how to continue my studies :)

Thanks

Francesco

Thanks @Paul Timmins,

I'll make a todo list out of it and I'll start learning!

Thanks!

Hi All,

Here I am starting this new adventure.

I'm completely new to this world but very excited. I know I have a lot to learn and I'm not afraid of that.

I'm in U.S. since less than 6 months and I'm looking to buy my first house and I want to do that thinking ahead of time and on how this house could be a good investment in the future (near).

I've learned a lot about the best practices on how to establish a good credit history and now I have to learn where to go from here through the path of REI.

As I'm new to this country there are a lot of things I can't do right now as far as I understand (investment loans require 2 years minimum residency as far as I understand).

Based on this the first step I'm planning to do is get rid of the my monthly rent and buy a primary residence where to live for the minimum time required by law and then rent it out.

This year would also serve as the time to learn and plan an investment strategy for the future as well as to keep on working on my credit.

Any suggestion is more than appreciated!

Thanks

Francesco
