On my way to work I noticed this 5000+ sf house in Encino, CA  that is all boarded up.  Looked it up on Zillow and it looks from my untrained eye that it:

- Went to auction for somewhere betwen 500 and 800k.
- Sold for 1.1m
- New owner will fix it up for a few hundred thousand
- And possibly sell for 2m?

Any thoughts on my analysis?  Here is the house: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5040-Hayvenhurst...

thanks!

Welcome @Joanne Lee , Also a newbie in the Porter Ranch area.

Definitely check out the podcasts.  I started last month and I've listened to 15 so far.

This week also is full of meetups that you can attend in the area:

Commercial RE Investors Mastermind meets tomorrow in West Hills

Real Estate Club in Action meets in Burbank on Wednesday

San Fernando Valley Real Estate Club meets on Wednesday in Van Nuys

Fibi Pasadena meets on Thursday in Pasadena

I'm hoping to catch a couple of these.

Good luck and see you around.

Hello all!

I would like to introduce myself in this awesome forum that I've been fortunate to find.  I signed up last month and I've started educating myself with "The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Real Estate Investing" and  listening to the podcasts via YouTube and SoundCloud.  My 1.25 hour commute from Northridge to Venice Beach is perfect for listening to a couple of these a day.

I'm currently not sure which type of investment I want to move towards but residential looks more appealing that commercial at this time.  I've found info on the forums regarding meetups later this month in the area (Burbank, Northridge, Pasadena).  I hope to attend a few of these  and meet some of you local BP members.

Thanks
