Thanks everyone. It's been a while but I figured I'd update that I applied for an unsecured credit card just in case I could get one before I had to resort to tying up $300-$500 in a secured credit card... and I got it! :)

Thanks Victor.
Seeing as a secured card is really my only option, I guess I have to get one! The bank that I'm with doesn't offer secured cards, so I figure I might go with the Orchard Bank secured card. I have to do a bit more research on it before applying though. I'm going to use it strictly as a tool to build credit, spending only what I already have in my bank so that I'm able to pay the balance due in full every month. It's kind of lame that they're going to hold on to my deposit for whatever amount of time that they hold onto it for, but I guess I'll be excited when I get it back.
And I don't plan on getting any department store cards any time soon!
Thanks again.

You're right Steve, I suppose I'll get one.

Thanks Bryan and Brian!
I'm currently trying to find a way to build credit. Until a couple of days ago, I thought Verizon reported to the credit bureaus. Unfortunately, they only report to them in the event that they're trying to collect overdue money from you. Figures. It's hard to get a credit card or a loan without a cosigner when you have no credit. My only option that I see as of right now is looking for CCs for people with limited or no credit. The CCs for people with no credit are pretty much all secured credit cards, which I really don't see a difference between them and a debit card. I'm not sure if I have limited credit, but I don't think I do seeing as I have nothing on my credit report.

Anyways, thanks again!

Soo, my house is in foreclosure haha. I think the farthest I'll end up going with this project now is painting the paneling, but I'm not really in any hurry to do so anymore. Anyways, thanks again for the help guys!

Thanks Bryan, sounds like a situation I would find myself in haha. I'm envisioning the outcome and that's keeping me positive:)

Hi Emily,
You said, "And yeah, the floors are linoleum. For some reason that word was on the tip of my tongue last night haha."
Your present floor is not linoleum. It is what used to be called, and maybe still is, rolled vinyl. I had that same pattern laid in my kitchen in 1972.

Here's a couple of links re linoleum flooring.

That's quite a job you've taken on. Best wishes for continued success.

Thanks M. My mom was calling it linoleum, so I thought that's what it was. Atleast I knew it was 70's haha.

So, I FINALLY got the windows sanded and painted. What a hassle! They're all done except a couple of spots that you can see the pictures. Good thing is that the rest of the work regarding the windows is wayy easy and won't really be time consuming. Unfortunately, I still haven't painted the inside of the cabinets. Once the windows are 100% done and the inside of the cabinets are 100% sanded and painted, the hard part as far as the painting goes is over.
Here are the pics:

Thanks Steve. I went with feather sanding. Paint strippers creep me out.
A few days ago I took down the mismatched cabinet and finished feather sanding all the door frames and a couple of doors that won't be replaced. I painted all the door frames, 2 coats. I still have a couple of spots to touch up, but they're pretty much done.
As far as painting the paneling goes, I'm not sure exactly when it'll get done. Moneys tight the next couple of weeks because school starts in the beginning of September and I have to get all my books and supplies and whatnot. Hopefully there's some extra money somewhere for atleast the first coat on the paneling.
Even though there's not much to show, here's one pic of the last door and frame that I sanded and painted.
When I do the touchups on the doorframes, I'll finish sanding the insides of the cabinets and paint them white, as well as atleast get the face of the window frames 100% sanded and painted. I've been putting of the window frames forever it feels like, they intimidate me.
The next update will probably come after the inside of the cabinets and face of the window frame is painted, when the first coat is on the paneling. That's when it'll look reallly different :)

Soo, apparantly there are 6(!) layers of different colored paint on each of the 7(!!!) doorframes. Wow.
There's no way that I want to sand all that down to the wood!
Is it possible to just sand enough over all the surfaces to roughen up the texture of the paint, then put a primer on and paint it as opposed to sanding all the way through the 6+ layers of paint down to the wood and then repainting?
This house is full of surprises..

Thanks Steve and Bryan. Fortunately I've taken into consideration the fact that all doors must be able to open haha.. there will be enough room:)
The only thing I'm really moving is the fridge, which is moving to a spot that its actually been in before, so the hookups are there.

Today I'll be sanding the inside of the cabinets, painting them, finishing sanding the window frame and hopefully finishing sanding all of the door frames. Tonight I want to atleast put all the tape up and hopefully get the first coat of paint on all the frames! Lets see how it actually plays out though..
