Hello!  I see this post come up often and I thought I could easily just search past forum posts, but seeing as how the landscape of RE changes so fast in this city I figure I would simply ask again.  I’m looking for reccomendations of contractors that people have used very recently with good results.  This is to finish up a project in SE Atlanta.  Nothing major - floor refinish and install, paint, trim work, etc.  What do y’all think?  Anyone have luck lately?

Thanks for the advice.  I kinda figured that’s the situation I was in.  @Wayne Brooks, I was able to complete the project.  That was definitely the first (and at the time, only) priority.  The $30k I’m referring to is only on the construction side.  The losses from carrying costs, time, etc would push it much higher.

@Matthew Paul, I didn’t fire him so much as he told me there would be someone else taking over because he was too sick to continue.  When I met that person I decided to ask him to let me out of the contract.  He agreed.  I thought it might be worth a little bit of effort to see if I could recoup some of my losses.

I had a contractor who I had to fire as it became appearant that he could not complete the job.  I had already paid him for several items including a few that needed to be redone as they were not done properly the first time.  I’d like to get the advice of an attorney as I figure I have lost about $30k due to his incompetence. I would much prefer to work with someone who will take the case on contingency.  Does anyone have experience suing or any recomendations for attorneys?  Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info

Hello,

I’m over budget on a project and I’m looking into a short term loan situation.  Basically, I had a contractor squander some money and now am in need of $20k to $40k in order to finish the project.  There is already a hard money loan in place on the property.  My question is:  does anybody have any experience with a supplemental loan such as this?  Is there a name for such a loan?  Thanks in advance!

I appreciate all the responses.  I wouldn't have ever paid for anything like that, but for a free ticket I figured it might be worth it to spend the time.

I didn't end up going...

For sure!  But supposedly he's quite a prominent wholesaler in the area. And the ticket is free. I should mention that it is a seminar on how to begin wholesaling.

I have a ticket to Mr. Tycoon's seminar in Atlanta tomorrow (Saturday) 4/29, that I won at a local REIA meetup. Unfortunately I am unable to attend but I do want someone to use it. Any takers? I live in the Poncey Highland area of Atlanta and can meet you nearby to drop it off.
