 Yes, I think you need a good enough credit score to get a loan, and the better your score, the better the rate you can get.

It's great that you're saving, but I think you should really focus on establishing good credit right now. Even if it means getting a secured credit card. I suggest checking your reports on creditkarma.com, possibly every week.
