I do agree accounting is a very flexible degree. I'm speaking from my experience as I stated at a big four and there's no way I had time for anything else back then. Now I have incredible flexibility but not at the beginning.

@Estela Legaspy probably not very feasible as with accounting or auditing you work a lot.

Great post as I suspect a lot of people feel this way. I was very frustrated with this in my last relationship and ended it because of that. I don't want to be dragging someone if they aren't as motivated and aligned as me. In my experience, the more you lean into this, the more a gap it can create and it can breed resentment. You can make a choice to accept that everyone is different. We all have different motivations, pressures, desires, and upbringings. Before I ended my relationship based on this misalignment I gave all those things a great deal of thought and I couldn't come to a compromise where I saw there was some alignment to work with despite the differences. But the main point is you cannot make anyone be as motivated as you on anything because we are all different. You trying creates tension for both parties, you not trying also does that. My advice is to make sure you communicate your needs and whys early and understand hers and come out with ways to support each other on those needs and whys. But sometimes there are no shared whys (values) and some people just want to coast and let the other person carry the big load. Another point to make from the perspective of a woman. Risk taking is not easy for women, most women are incredibly uncomfortable with investing, but some may have different skill sets that can be very helpful in a partnership like being more organized and being the voice of reason hahaha. Good luck!!

Can you borrow from it? I did with with mine and pay myself back interest included but I don't if that's an option your plans offers. I am losing on growing that money but I won't be penalized unless I leave this job. Then it's a taxable event if not paid within 90 days.

I don't want to discourage you from pursuing a graduate degree and a promotion but if you have a passion for entrepreneurship I would encourage you to lean into that instead. I have a graduate accounting degree and I was very aggressive at work at the beginning of my career and it has paid off but looking back and being honest with my self, I have spent 10 years building this career and I can't wait to leave it lol and if I had started investing and working on my passion full time or more seriously even 5 years ago I would be a much better spot than I am now. If you know you're an entrepreneur at heart don't invest too much on your w2. But if you do pick wisely and strategically. As boring as accounting sounds, I think it's a great degree so check that out if you want to go that route. It's very marketable (you can do audit, taxes, bookeping, financial work, consulting etc) for when you do need to be employed and it can also transfer to self employment/contract work if you need cash here and there.

Beginner investor here. I started with a 17dll course on facebook for women than then hustle hard to sell me a 10k + mentorship. I didn't buy it but I was sooo shocked that out of about 1000 women who joined that weekend 17 dl class which runs non stop all year (1000 women was just for that class), several women went ahead and bought the 10k course. Instead, I just plunged and bought the first property. 4 years later I have 2 LTR, 1 STR and one living flip that I'm not sure if I'll make STR, LTR or stay in it since I love the neighborhood . I'm all over the place and overwhelmed AF as I also have a w2 and I'm a solo parent. I would love mentorship but plunging in and doing something with the little money I had saved has been a great teacher. I could have spent even more on mentorship and done nothing. Eventually I would love to be generous with what I learn and help people achieve their goals which is what I love about this forum. Yall are so incredibly generous and helpful. I am a firm believer the sun shines for everyone so thank you for all you share and also thank you for bringing awareness about the pitfalls of these mentorships.
