I have no idea.

I actually like the way the appliances look; makes it all look like it flows. Although I know I'm in the minority and stainless steel is the way to go.

Was it cigarette smoke or fire smoke? I helped reno some hotel rooms a few years ago, and it was a hotel that'd been around since the 50s, so in like half the rooms the nicotine and tar were almost literally baked in; it was nauseating. We had to completely redo some of the walls because we couldn't get the smell out.

Did the neighbor flooding the yard negatively impact the yard itself? Or was it just an eyesore for a few days?

Awesome! Congrats on the deal! It looks beautiful; what all did you have to do on the rehab?
Very cool! I haven't done my first deal yet, so reading these gets me jazzed for it.

Thanks for the welcome, all. :-)

@Chris Eaker, I like the sound of that! I'd love to pick your brain.

@Jim Wilcox It's nice to see a fellow Lexingtonian here! I look forward to meeting you and everybody at the next meeting.

Oh, man! Sitting for the CFA in December? Best of luck; I've known a few people who have taken it, and most don't pass it their first time. I'm an REI virgin as well, but my advice would be to wait until you're done with the CFA to start doing it. You don't need the stress of passing it on top of "Oh no, the tile guy didn't show up!" or anything like that.

Hi! My name is Erik and I am a personal banker in Lexington, KY. I was born and raised in Lexington, lived a little in the surrounding counties, and spent some time in WA before coming back to the Bluegrass a few years ago. I have no hands-on experience in REI, and short of helping with a remodel of my parents-in-law's house a couple of years ago, I don't have any experience in renovations, but I'm excited for the learning opportunities my shortcomings in both areas will bring.

I came to BP through a Google search of "best financial podcasts," and after listening to "SHOW! 202," I was hooked. BP made me realize that the people I see on DIY and HGTV aren't the real people doing this; those are celebrities who, while clearly talented, had years and years of work and practice to make what they do look easy, and that I can get there one day.

I plan to buy and flip my first property in the next two years, after which I will continue flipping/selling until I can buy a rental property for cash, repeating the process until I am comfortable.

I look forward to meeting all the REIs in Lexington and the surrounding areas! I plan on joining the Bluegrass Real Estate Investment Group as soon as I can muster up the courage to show up and say, "I don't know anything, can I just watch from the corner?"
