Hey @Joseph Cacciapaglia, I had a similar question! I've got a property closing mid-August, so plenty of lead time, and it's a more or less light renovation, kitchen cabinets, some tile, a little bit of work on the bathrooms, etc (with the exception of some foundation stuff, luckily Rick above recommended someone for that already) and in Beacon Hill. Do you have a recommendation for a contractor in that situation? I've not done this in San Antonio before, so right now my alternative is the yellow pages (so to speak).

Hey Sarah, I'm just getting started so I don't know that'd I'd be able to partner with you, but I know that Rick Pozos (he's a very experienced operator) will often partner with folks on deals, maybe he'd be interested. I can't tag him here, but I'll DM you his details.

Hey @Robert Neal! Family is doing great, thanks. Hope you are well too!

Thanks for the recommendation @Pamela Gregerson, I will definitely check that out. I like a nice small group to get to know people better.

Good to see you again @Polo Vazquez, I hadn't thought about that, but I think you're quite right. And it's always nice to be able to help folks out from our community. I'll definitely be in touch, hope all is well with you!

That's great Patrick, maybe we will! Especially since all the networking events are online right now. And I definitely recommend the "Real Estate Group of SA" zoom meetup I did, it was just the right amount of people, and I already got some great info about San Antonio from it. Good Luck!

Hey y'all!

This is my first post on BP, even though I've been on it for a while, just watching and learning, so I wanted to introduce myself and, hopefully find some real estate buddies.

A bit about us...

My wife and I are pastors here in San Antonio and, after many years of (me) talking about it, we have gotten 100% on the same page about investing and are beginning our journey! We've had a lot of fun these last months visioning and working out our business plan and reading SO many books (not to mention all the podcasts, amiright?) and learning about our local market and the surrounding areas.

Our ultimate goal is to BRRRR Section 8 rentals (much like Dr. Joe Asamoah does up in DC), as we have a real desire to provide safe, high quality housing to deserving families who wouldn't have a chance to live there otherwise, and so I've been doing plenty of research recently to see if it will work in SA. In the meantime, we've been closing in on trying to do a flip for our first deal to gain experience with rehabbing.

Anyways, I've got a million newbie questions that I look forward to bringing up on the forums over the next several months/years/decades, and we're looking to build a great team in these next few months but, honestly, the biggest thing I'd like to ask all you wonderful people on BP right now is about networking.

I just went to my first RE meetup (virtual) the other night, the one run by Rick Pozos (Real Estate Group of SA on meetup) and it was really great to get to chat with other investors and see that this stuff is something that real people do. So, if you know of any other RE networking events/groups that you'd recommend just for building relationships and learning (I've also hear that ALAMO is a good one), please let me know! My wife has stressed the importance of me finding someone ELSE to talk to about real estate several times now, haha.

I don't know exactly what I have to offer at the moment, but please do reach out if you're looking for a passionate person who doesn't know what they're doing to talk real estate with, or if you have any comments/recommendations/discouragements/whatever!

Thanks so much!
