Hello all! We are new to real estate investing and are reaching out to share in the Bigger Pockets community’s expertise.

We recently bought a new house and are renting out our old one as a way of partially divesting from the stock market and investing in real estate. We felt the Portland Metro area was a good place to rent (outside Portland itself anyway). In the future, we’d love to buy more properties and expand a bit depending on how easily this first experience is.

I’ve read a couple books (First-Time Landlord from Nolo.com by Janet Portman and The Big Book of Managing Rental Properties from Bigger Pockets by Brandon and Heather Turner). I feel both books provided a ton of useful information and I have several contacts who rent as well, but I’m looking forward to learning more on this forum!
