Hello all! Basically I purchased a SFH for $250,000 here in Staten Island, NY. I put $50,000 down and have been making all payments for the past year. I also have around $10,000 in savings. I live in this property, and I used a VA loan for it. What is the best way to get my next property? I want to buy&hold.

@Rich Vogel thanks! Right now all I am doing is looking at Bethlehem and Allentown areas on realtor.com. Just looking at photos too see which looks to be in best condition. I will also play around with the BP rental calculator. Not sure what else too do.

@Rich Vogel I will expand my search into Bethlehem. Any streets to avoid? Right now I'm just looking at homes for a $100,000  and under on various real estate websites. As a new investor should I stick with sfh or duplex?

18102 = Center city, lowest prices, least desirable

Thanks, I will take a look. Any other areas you recommend?

Hello, any investors have experience in Allentown, PA? I have been looking on a few real estate sites and see some low prices on SFHs. Are there areas to avoid here? Any advice would be helpful. I know nothing of the area.

I understand your point but if I don't have enough capital that is a issue. If I only have 20,000 then I shouldn't be looking at million dollar properties. That being said what areas do you suggest to invest in as a fellow New Yorker?

flipping is an entirety other field. I would still need to raise capital for that. Don't even know where to start on flipping.
