Post: First Time Mortgage Note Investor

I am interested in mortgage note investing but have no experience (only some book knowledge on the subject). I am planning on comitting $10k to $20k as my starting investment amount with a focus on a relatively safe investment or two so that I can actually learn the process of purchasing and working with a service provider. Is this amount inline for someone starting out or am I grossly underfunded to begin investing in notes?

Is my best option to search sites like FCI Exchange or Notes Direct to purchase a note?

Any help or guidance is appreciated. It is just a matter of executing the first deal that is the most difficult. It is like signing your first mortgage, it can be intimidating and scary, but after going through the process a few times it is not so bad. Then can you educate others through the process.

Thanks, Eric

New member to Bigger Pockets.  Just want to say hi.  By trade I am an engineer and have always enjoyed real estate.  Ideally, I am looking to reduce my exposure in the stock market and start learning more about note investing instead.  Any direction / advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
