@Jeremy Morton I came to bigger pockets by the way of the FIRE strategy/the Mr. Money Mustache philosophy—I’m a big fan of vanguard and indexes generally.

I'm just starting on my REI journey, but you can definitely increase the velocity of your money MUCH more quickly with REI than with indexes (thanks to refinancing strategies). That said, I still invest in indexes with part of every paycheck. Whether that is ‘optimal' idk.

If you lower your cost of living enough it’s definitely possible to retire early on indexes via the ‘safe withdrawal rate’.

Post: Transition from house hack to BRRRR strategies?

Hey everyone,

Had a quick question.

Apologies if this has been covered before but google-fu did not uncover anything.

Was wondering if it is possible (and if so, how) to transition from a house hack to a BRRRR strategy.

Obviously with an FHA you don't have enough equity to start with to get any cash out with a refi, even if you knock the Reno/ARV out of the park. Numbers are less bad, but a similar story with a conventional loan house hack it seems like.

I understand the utility of house hacking in order to live in a primary residence for very cheap (or free or at a small profit) but how do people transition from house hacking one multi family into executing the BRRRR strategy? Is there a direct connection or elegant way to do this?

Hey Guys,

I'm a long time lurker, BP listener and used to work as a commercial/industrial Real Estate Broker in Brooklyn and Queens. I am wrapping up an MBA in NYC and looking to start investing in rental properties (SFH and Multi-family) using the BRRRR method in areas like Western Mass. and Upstate New York.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and finding ways to provide value to this community!

I'd also love to connect with people, like me, who are just starting out on their journey as investors to compare notes and provide support!

Hope this finds everyone well!

Best,

-Eric
