Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on learning basic home improvement skills? I am a new investor and have never been very handy around the house. Wondering how I can start from "square one"?

Was looking at things like Home Depot DIY workshops or even enrolling in some contracting courses at a local trade school. Does anyone have thoughts on either of these options? Or anything else to add?

Also, I live in the SF Bay area and would be happy to help out any investors/contracts with any home improvement projects they may have and the weekends. I don't have much experience but am eager to learn and help!

Thanks,

Emmett

Hello,

Does anyone recommend any home improvement courses in California? I was looking into taking some general contractor or construction courses so that I can do more myself with my properties.

How have people had success in the past learning home improvement skills? I didn’t grow up working with my hands much but I want to learn. Has anyone else went through anything similar and have some advice to share?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to get into the short-term rental space with Airbnb & Vrbo, but I have a dilemma. I live in the bay area where properties are extremely expensive, especially places that would be desirable as tourist destinations.

Do I just get a condo in Florida for a couple hundred k and call it good? Or will it be too hard trying to manage it from across the country? I feel like being so far away I would have to hire people to do everything for me. And I fear that would significantly eat into my margins. But on the other hand saving up enough to put 20% down on a property in the bay area seems near impossible.

Does anyone have experience managing short-term rentals from across the country? Especially as a newer investor?

What about a condo hotel? I know they will pretty much do everything for you, but I have not seen much data on the margins for these, my gut tells me there is some sort of catch. Thoughts?
