So terribly sorry for the delay--we were traveling, some of which was throughout Maine!  We had a beautiful trip (though lots of rain).  We didn't do any house hunting but rather explored the areas we're interested in.  I so appreciate everyone's feedback and input.  We are in Indiana and so this dream may be a while in the making as we have to find time to be going back and forth frequently to look.  As we get closer to "pulling the trigger," I'll definitely be reaching back out!  Thanks again!

We are interested in purchasing a single family home on the coast between Portland area and Desert Island area to use as a vacation home/possible future retirement spot for our family and to Airbnb/VRBO when we are not present.  We live out of state so are not super familiar with the area yet and would appreciate input on locales which are likely to have the best opportunity for vacation rental income.  Any local insights would be appreciated!
