Brandon Turner Interesting way to utilize the capital. As much as I'd enjoy a week long vacation right about now, it's not in the cards. Bullet point 2, 3, and 4 are definitely going into effect.

After living in a duplex with my fiance for 2 years, then moving into our current SFH, I don't think there is a way to convince her back into a MFH - not that I mind myself.

Mark Updegraff I'm glad to hear the positive words on our local market. I definitely thank Rochester for a lot of benefits in my life, and REI might become one of those benefits. I'm sure I will be contacting you more in the future as I figure my path out. Thanks for reaching out to me!

Frank O. I saw your story + success story - glad to see you complete a successful first deal in Rochester! What area of town was the property? I didn't notice an explanation elsewhere, so what made you decide on Rochester versus other markets?

Joshua Dorkin I appreciate the hospitality and the site you provide - you're doing a lot for Real Estate as a whole, as I'm beginning to understand. I have skimmed through the UBG and plan on continuing to pick through it more in depth. I think it's great that a PDF has hyperlinks to real-time blog and forum pages - makes it easy to get sidetracked though.

As for my decision/situation, I'd say my biggest hurdles are 1.) figuring out what I want to accomplish, and 2.funding - I don't have any savings as I've been picking away at CC debt (sub $4k.) I have a Harley which is currently on sale via Craigslist which I hope to use as my start-up fund.

Hypothetical - if you had $5K, how would you try to maximize return with minimal risk?

Howdy folks,

A young gun from western New York who found Bigger Pockets recently. After reading a few RE Investing books and listening to podcasts, I'm ready to get my feet wet. I recently purchased my personal residence after being a renter for 5 years, which ultimately got the investing bug in my head. Since I'm still (and always will be) in the educating stage, I'm not 100% where I want to start - flip, hold, tax lien. On top of BP, I'm a member of my local REIA - http://ffreia.com/ I'm happy to join such an eclectic group of people with the common interest of RE! Looking forward to the future and I hope I can provide as much as I gain.
