@Zorya Belanger I really appreciate your candid insights re your REIN experience - exactly what I needed! The amount of info and gurus out is overwhelming so your advice is spot-on. Will check out Don Campbell''s book

@Layton GilbraithThanks for your thoughtful response. REIN positions itself as superior to free content because you "get what you pay for" – that they provide not only the education but experts to connect with and learn from. Ultimately, it’s what you do with the info that counts.

It’s true that there’s plenty of useful low-cost content to start and go from there. Seems successful members profiled in REIN webinars are experienced investors, not just starting out. Certainly, I'd be interested to hear from REIN members on this forum who can attribute actual deals to connections they made there.

As I continue with my learning journey, I would benefit from networks, meet-ups, mentorship... etc. I may just be able to find those connections here as someone here just messaged me about a JV idea, happily 😊.

Hello all! I'm exploring REI from Vancouver, Canada. It's great to have this BC-dedicated forum here on BiggerPockets.

I have a bit of cash and seeking connections to venture into a JV or similar partnership opportunities.

I just attended a free REIN webinar which had valuable info. Would be grateful for opinions on whether REIN membership cost is worth it? It's ~3,000/yr, which seems rather expensive to me but what ROI to put on such knowledge and networking? I really need the expertise and networking but perhaps there are other cheaper alternatives available in BC/Vancouver?

Thank you kindly,

Elisheba

Thanks a lot @Pawan J. for the heads up ! I am committed that time but looking into it. Would really love to come :)

Count me in please as well:)

@Peter Crisp I just learned from  @Marc Ramsay that local REI meet-up info is posted here: http://www.meetup.com/SynergyREIN/ He says there's one coming on Feb 3 or 4th. I have signed up to be notified of the details. Hope we can connect at one of these :)

@Tom Stromar How enlightening to hear that Nanaimo is more investor friendly and is only a ferry ride away. Certainly worth considering.

@Aaron Xie Whereabouts are you in Burnaby?

@Peter Crisp Thanks for your excellent ideas. I've been thinking about building because I see a lot of older single homes torn down and replaced with duplexes in Burnaby for what must be a decent ROI. I recognize that the significant difference between what I can get in Burnaby and Surrey makes the commute worthwhile.Your option 2 sounds particularly feasible. I am absolutely eager to connect with local REI folks so let's stay in touch on that.
