@Walker Frank, Welcome to BP! This is definitely the place you want to be for information and networking. I noticed you mentioned earlier that you're planning to move into multifamily, but you're going to find a rabbit hole of information here from every subject and caveat of REI so happy hunting and good luck staying focused!

You and I have very similar backgrounds.  My wife and I come from a federal/military background and we live and invest in TX as well.  We started out in single family homes about 3-4yrs ago, but about a yr ago, we developed a great relationship with a group of multifamily investors called Think Multifamily that has helped us transition into apartment investing.  The group is ran by a great couple named Mark and Tamiel Kenney; you can check out their site at: http://thinkmultifamily.com/ to see if their model aligns with your goals.

Anyways, I'm currently out of the country right now, but if you're interested you can PM me at anytime for more details on our story and maybe meet up sometime when I return.  Also, if you're in the DFW area you can drop by one of Think Multifamily's meetups to learn and network with like-minded people or reach out to Mark and Tami on BP; their genuine people and would love to meet you!

Ok, I can talk forever, but I wish you luck and hope to hear from you!

@Steve Shedd, Welcome to BP and the REI world! Those are some big goals and I love big goals, so good for you!! We started out with single family homes about 3yrs+ ago, but now we're beginning to move into multifamily and would like to help you out in any way we can. We're federal too and we live in DFW, so you can PM me anytime.

We like this area and it's perfect for REI and networking; you just have to get out there and get your hussle on with like-minded people. Anyways, good luck and I hope to hear from you soon!

Brandon, try checking out Mark and Tami Kenney's multifamily training, called Real Estate Apartment Investor Networking (RAIN) event. This couple runs a great team out of Dallas, TX called Think Multifamily and their training specializes in apartment complex syndication.  They held an event in April; you can check out the training's agenda/info at http://thinkmultifamily.com/register.  I'm deployed with the military, so I missed it, but I plan on attending the next round!  They're very personable, so I would also recommend reaching out to them through their website or on BP.  Good luck and I'll see you at the next RAIN event!

David, I would recommend Mark and Tami Kenney.  They run a syndication group out of Dallas, TX called, "Think Multifamily" that focuses on value-add apartment investing that produces long-term cash flow.  Based on what you're telling us, I think they're what you're looking for to help you accomplish your goals.  We know them personally; they're down to earth and we've invested in a couple of deals with them and couldn't be happier with their professionalism.  You can also check them out at: or reach out to them over BP.  Let me know how it turns out!!

Garrett, I agree with John Jacobus...If you want an experienced active mentor I would recommend Mark and Tami Kenney of Think Multifamily. If you're hungry to learn, then they are eager to teach. I know them personally, have worked with them and know they are completely supportive of your success. They have many years of experience and a strong support group that's supportive as well. They are down to Earth and are always willing to talk.

I agree with David Thompson...you should discuss your goals with various MF professionals/ syndicators/coaches to find the right fit.  After a long search, my wife and I connected right away with Mark and Tami Kenney of Think Multifamily in Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) market. We're fairly new to the MF game, but they're extremely supportive and genuine and will help you accomplish your goals any way they can.  You can even see it in the network that has developed around them.  If you want to learn and grow, I highly encourage anyone to reach out to them! They've been mentoring us for several months and we plan to partner up later this year, so it's definately worth your time.

Greetings all from DFW! My wife and I purchased a SFR almost a year ago and are considering a duplex, triplex or fourplex this year. Has anyone had any success in this area and are willing to share any advice or tips? Thanks!
