@J. Martin If you ride via scooter and take the scenic coastal route, it could take you about 2 days. Or about 20 hours straight. Well worth it though!
I haven't driven myself anywhere from Hanoi, but I have taken a bus up to Sapa. That is a beautiful place up in the mountains with amazing terraced rice patties!

By central I mean cities like Hue, Lang Co, Da Nang, and Hoi An :)
Yes, Hoi An is a charming city with a lot of history and ancient architecture.

Thanks @Pyrrha Rivers, Vietnam is an amazing place :)
Its also incredibly cheap to travel all over Asia from here, so I'm have a really good time building up a business here, learning the culture, and especially eating all the food! Let me know if you come back :D

Hi BP Community!
I'm a newb to the world of property management and rentals. I'm an even bigger newb in the world of property rentals abroad.
Regardless of this fact, I began an AirBnB business here where I leased a property, and with permission from the owners, I re-leased it out on AirBnB. That has led me to start my own property management company after being approached by many homeowners on how I could help them do the same thing.
But I still have a lot to learn, not only about property management or real estate, but on the laws here in Vietnam.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how I can prepare myself for managing short term vacation rentals in Vietnam?
My goal is to eventually have multiple rental properties around central Vietnam and beyond, but I still have a lot to learn about the laws and what my limitations are.
Does anyone here have any resources or places for me to go to for learning about rental property investments in Vietnam?
Thanks you guys :)

AirBnB seems to really work out for those in areas that have attractions or a just popular destinations in general.
I've made the move to a city that's growing in popularity in Vietnam and I've found that even leasing and re-leasing on AirBnB can be pretty good.
AirBnB can be pretty tricky in some cities, especially abroad, but if you do your homework and try not to avoid things like taxes and the authorities, it could really work out!
The "Get Paid For Your Pad" book and podcast as @Connor Wingfield mentioned has been a great resource for me in general....combined with the Bigger Pockets podcast ;)

Oh, and by the way, I'm well aware that I misspelled "Vietnam", but I couldn't figure out how to go back and edit the headline. doh!

I fell in love with Da Nang, Vietnam. So much so that I moved here from Oakland where I'm originally from. If you're still on your journey or planning a trip, I highly recommend Da Nang.
