Hey Trice, I totally understand where you are coming from and I think our situations may at least a little similar.  I am married and have two kids and am the primary bread winner and what got my so interested in real estate investing is the ability to have passive income to be able to pay our lifestyle rather than trade hours of my life to cover our costs.  My wife initially was not really interested in the whole concept of real estate investing and a lot of that is probably because she didn't initially understand our "why."  I work often 60+ hours a week and felt like a rat in a wheel while my wife works just part time and gets plenty of free time to spend time with the kids, sleep go out etc so to her the idea of financial independence probably didn't really matter all that much to her.

What got her on my side was having her listen to some episodes of the Bigger Pockets podcasts with me where there are husband and wife teams of investors, having us do a joint budget together (prior I was 100% monitoring an maintaining the family budget)and just talking about the "why" it is so important for me to get out of the rat race.

She now understands why this is so important and is now always talking with our family members about how we plan on doing a house hack this year and how I'm getting into real estate investing.

Hopefully that might help a little.  Initially the idea of selling our comfortable single family home that we pay an expensive mortgage on was a turn off for her but now she understands how doing a house hack can begin moving us toward eventual financial freedom

Hi and welcome, Julian.  I'm also a new investor in the Southern NH area and plan on doing my first real estate investment moves in the next few months this year.  If you haven't already, you should think about attending the local NHREIA meeting.  I joined a couple months ago and it's a great way to network with other investors.  The meetings are always on the second Wednesday of each month.

Hi there Matt! Yeah I'm not sure why the characters came through like that but I am a certified financial planner but my advice is primary built around more traditional retirement accounts such as 401k's, 403b's, IRA's and Roth's. My work doesn't cover anything on the real estate or banking side at all unfortunately.

It"s great to meet you Gal!  I don't know if you happened to be at the NHREIA meeting in Manchester on Wednesday but if you weren't you definitely have a doppelganger.

Hi Guys,

My name is Eddie and I've been lurking on forums for a while now and reading/listening to bigger pockets podcast and absorbing info like crazy.  I live and work in Southern New Hampshire with my wife, two kids and black lab.

I don't mind my job as a CFP® working for a large investment firm however my goal is early financial freedom through the flexibility that real estate can give you through passive income, BRRRR strategies, 1031 exchanges and all the other amazing things that real estate has to offer. I would like to build a portfolio which can help get me out of the rat race

Recently it dawned on me how much of my cash flow goes to pay my mortgage and after reading Rich Dad Poor Dad and learning about the mindset of my home actually being a liability rather than an asset if it's not providing some income, my goal is to sell my home and move into an owner occupied rental property to immediately increase my cash flow for other investment opportunities.

I just joined NHREIA in December and now I'm getting my wife on board with the idea of getting into a 2 or 3 family or even a single family with an in law that we can rent out at a bear minimum.

I would love to get connected to people locally and if anyone has properties they are selling that fits my definitely im all ears.

thanks everyone and good to meet you!
