Post: Determine Land Value

I came across a property the other day in rural Baltimore County Maryland, actually an abandon driveway leading to lord knows what. Ended up doing a bit of research and found out there was an old house sitting on ~10 acres, so said the internet anyway. Sent the owner a letter, received a call back, he’s looking to sell. But apparently there isn’t a home on the land... instead a garage with water/electric? Kind of threw me a curve ball.

Does anyone have direct advice theyd be willing to share or could point me to any threads on here about evaluating raw land value as well as what to offer with the intent to wholesale.

Thanks,

Hey guys.

I know there are tons of real estate books out there and many great picks in the BP book store. I've read many and appreciate the time put into building that list.

I'd like to educate myself on rehabbing specifically. I understand sometimes the best way to learn is to experience it first hand...but I'd like to read a bit before I just go touching that wire (lol)

I saw the book on estimating costs and repairs and such but I'm looking to learn processes and how-to.

Plumbing. Electrical. Structural aspects and Engineering behind the architecture. Restoring wood. Things of that nature. Some things may be more suited for a professional I know but I still want to understand these concepts and do as much as I can myself as I'd appreciate the home that much more.

My end goal is to buy a 19th century home one day and bring it back to life for generations to come.

I Would appreciate any reads you've found helpful in this area.

Thanks guys.

Hey BP family.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

There are a ton of questions and topics I'd love to talk and ask for more advice on; But I want to keep this post shorter in relevance to my immediate needs.

I just moved here from Maryland, when I say 'moved' I mean I'm staying in a hotel for $500/week. - I just didn't enjoy living life in a daily routine under the paralyzing shade that the comfort zone casts. So Instead of taking strides of moderation, I drove 2300 miles to put myself in new situations, to change, to grow, to live!

Anyway, I'd like to plant some roots here. Reaching out to any local investors, I'm in the Scottsdale Arizona area. In a perfect world, I'd be on the look out for a multi family to house hack. If not, maybe a home I can provide some value to? Maybe a live-in fixer upper? Maybe it's already occupied and cash flowing?  I'm just hungry to get that first property boys! Owner financing would be an even more beautiful thing as I've done atleast one responsible thing and saved $35k before driving out and plopping myself under these beautiful sunsets.

I'm 23 years young and the possibilities of exponential growth excites me. I don't have many, let me rephrase, I don't have any friends here. That being said, REIs, if you ever have a long to-do list with your personal investment properties and an empty passenger seat, I'd love to ride along and help you in anyway I can! Being around the business, physically learning and getting involved in something I want persue sounds like a good time to me (honestly).

Any help or direction, big or small, would be greatly appreciated!
