@Dave Passey Being in the military, we are entitled to a basic housing rate. Most military members around me see it as a simple way to live easy. I see it differently. I look at it as rent someone else is paying me for a house that I don't even own.  For my area in particular, this rate is around $800 a month ( which is low ). Assuming I stay in the military for 20 years, 800x12= $9600, 9600x20= $192,000.

If there was a way to keep only half of that, I would do it. Instead of wasting that money on rent that I am never going to see again.

With that said, really any reasonably priced deal would be possible. This first deal is allowing me to dip my toes into the real estate world and keep a chunk of the money that the military is handing me.

Hey BP!

I am 20 years old, active duty military, currently outside the boise area, and am new to real estate investing! I have been buying stocks, mutual funds, ETF's, etc for the last three years, but I've decided now that I want to predominately invest in myself. Watching market news and staying informed takes more time than what it's worth.

Recently I agreed to terms on my first deal (SFH, 2bd 2bath), and am excited to close soon! I will be living in this home and renting the other room out to someone. Although I have only been a member of bigger pockets for 2 weeks, I have been using all the resources BP has to offer for about four months. The knowledge that I have obtained since I discovered BP has given me confidence that I can get into real estate investing at my age.

I have big plans, but am unsure about which style of REI will be best for me. Thank you for everything BP has already helped with and I look forward to continuing to grow within this community.
