I'm interested in seeing thoughts on this. How does someone quantify and evaluate the risk involved with this kind of opportunity?

Adam, that is a pretty impressive portfolio. I am the same age, but am just now starting to learn about REI. How long ago did you start investing and if you don't mind me asking, how did you get started?

Can't wait to watch afterwards if this gets recorded!

Thanks @aaron westerburg!

I would love to join. I have previous plans but I'm going to try and move stuff around so that I can make it.

Where and when?

Don

@James Wise, @Kyle Tokasey, @Scott Harlow, and @Justin Windham, thank you all for the warm welcome! I have my keyword alerts setup...Josh and Brandon do a good job of making sure people know to do that on the podcast!

They were discussing FHA loans on a podcast I listened to recently, but I did not quite understand what they were. I am a bit overwhelmed by all of the different financing options that there seem to be as well as all of the different exit strategies out there. I've got some research to do...

Hello BP!

I was very lucky to find Bigger Pockets a month or so ago (thanks to Reddit) and have been listening to the Podcast most days ever since! 25 episodes and counting! I decided it is time I stop in to introduce myself.

My name is Don and I am a (working) mechanical engineer living in Northeast Ohio. I live in Cuyahoga Falls which is near Akron and Cleveland. I am fortunate enough to have been able to rid myself of student loans since I graduated from college a few years ago. I have been saving up to invest in real estate. My plan right now is admittedly vague, but as I continue to learn I will pinpoint the strategy that is best for my situation and build a specific business plan. I would like to start my adventure into real estate with buying a multifamily home that I can live out of and rent. Then, I want to use wholesaling and/or flipping to build capital for an eventual focus on buy and hold properties. I still have a lot (everything) to learn about the market in my area, so my plan is flexible.

I know the journey ahead will be long, difficult and full of hard-learned lessons, but I am excited to grow and meet new people in the business. I look forward to sharing ideas with all of you and becoming a part of this community.

Props, by the way, to the creators of the podcast, this community, and everyone who takes part! So far, I am very impressed and I've learned a lot in a short amount of time.

Thanks for reading,

Don Young
