During my 4 years in college I stayed in two 10 person houses with my buddies, although there was always something to do all that testosterone inevitably resulted in many holes in the walls and broken doors. I have a pretty good idea of all the crazy things that can happen since I experienced them first hand. I would love to hear what others have experienced! Stories, advice, things to look out for, and what you could have done differently! Any feedback is appreciated.

@Gabe Chase congrats Gabe, I am not in your market nor do I know much about it but since you are planning on land lording your first rental I highly recommend reading Brandon’s book on “Managing Rental Properties”. I just turned 23 and purchased my first rental, I can honestly say that this book played a huge role on how I set up the systems for managing my property. Good Luck!!!

@LaCinda Harris The best advice I can give is to first look for a will that your grandmother may have had in place in the event of her death. Next contact a probate attorney as her property will likely have to go to probate court (basically any assets of hers will have to be distributed equally to her heirs) if she didn’t have a will. Even though your mom has been paying the bills the name on the deed is really what matters. Im not an expert so please contact a good attorney in your area.

@Darvin Johnson East Lansing is very strict on their rental licenses and have many rules that you should look into before purchasing any property in the area.

Post: Do you prefer an Airbnb or a hotel when traveling?

Since the pandemic hit in late March, many are not sure how they feel about staying at hotels or short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, and Tripadvisor Rentals. Airbnb, with 7.7 million active listings, is a strong competitor against the 16.4 million hotel rooms worldwide. Cleanliness, safety, and price are all factors we take into account when booking our trips.

-What amenities do you like or would like to see when staying in an airbnb? (Hair-dryer, Stocked fridge, water bottles, etc)

-Over the past year have you utilized hotels or platforms like Airbnb more?

Any feedback is appreciated
