Post: College student looking to house-hack

Hello all,

My name is Devin and I'm currently a college senior who will be graduating in May. Upon graduation, I will be accepting a full time position in the finance space but I am extremely interested in real estate investing. For the past several months I have been focusing on gaining knowledge any way I can... networking, online resources, lurking the BP forums as well as interning at a local property management company. I've finally decided to take action and make a post.

I'd love to start my real estate investing journey by using an FHA loan to finance a house-hack, preferably a triplex or 4 plex. I am posting to see if anyone has gone through a similar situation before or has any tips for someone like myself? What is it like working full-time and investing as a side gig? Should I start smaller scale and begin with a duplex? Should I start looking into my local market now or wait until I am living there? What's the best methods to find a great deal?

I'm extremely early on in my real estate journey and am looking to just reach out and connect with some more experienced investors to pick their brains.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks guys,

Devin
