Somebody just told me that it was impossible to flip houses without a bank or investor backing you. Let me set this straight. I was born and raised in a small town in the middle of Iowa. Every since my early teen years I started naming it a Dead End town. A Dead End area. Old money, lots of farmers, already established. There wasn’t much growing to do for these small towns. Therefore since my early years I didn’t see much chance of being self employed successfully. I was always the kid getting into trouble. Wheeling and dealing. Making a profit on anything I could. Shortly after my 16th birthday my mother’s mental health took a toll for the worst. I didn’t have a choice but to move out and make a living in my own. I went to work full time for a construction company at 16. I got my GED at 17 and started attending college. Of course I flunked out. I needed to work to be able to keep a roof over my head. About two years ago I got sick and tired of working under somebody else. I took my chances and moved to North Carolina and started up a construction company. I picked a location that has many military people coming and going because houses tend to sell fast and there is always work if you’re good. After paying all my bills 3 months in advance I got everything I needed to start the construction company. I started to lose track of the “big dream” of owning 30 rentals when I’m 40 and retiring. All my work was in gated communities. They were growing my business but they weren’t serving me my true purpose. I started reaching out to property managers and real estate agents. We have a little trade going where I can help them out on work if they help me out on property buying/selling side. If you want help from people you have to lay something in the table that benefits them! At the point I’m at right now, I have 3 construction crews and 3 houses waiting to be flipped and sold. With 1 pending the build. Please keep in mind that when I was 18 I screwed my credit up, I have paid cash for all my properties, remodeled them with cash. Sure it helps to have a loan or credit cards but it’s not impossible without it! It’s just hard work and determination. This line of work is not for everyone. It’s not as easy as the TV makes it seem. But if your mind is in the right place you can do anything.
